❓ FAQ & Troubleshooting
💡 General Questions
What are residential proxies?
Residential proxies are IP addresses assigned by ISPs to real devices (homes, phones, laptops). They appear as regular internet users to target websites, resulting in very low block rates.
What is the difference between the Stable Pool and Dynamic Pool?
The Stable Pool contains devices confirmed to be online consistently over extended periods — they rarely go offline and keep the relay application active. The Dynamic Pool contains devices that are less consistently online. The Stable Pool is recommended for sticky sessions; the Dynamic Pool is suitable for rotating sessions. Both pools provide authentic residential IPs.
How is traffic counted?
Traffic is counted in GB based on data transferred through the proxy — primarily the size of HTTP responses. Request headers also count.
How long is my traffic valid?
Purchased traffic is valid for 90 days from the date of purchase. After 90 days, unused traffic is paused (not lost) and reactivated automatically with any new purchase.
What protocols do you support?
X2Proxy supports HTTP/HTTPS and SOCKS5. Both protocols use port 2222 and provide access to the same residential IP pool with the same targeting options. UDP is not supported.
How many IPs are in the pool?
The pool size is dynamic — we're continuously expanding it as new devices join the network, rather than a fixed number. Check current coverage in the Dashboard → Proxy Generator.
Are the IPs ethically sourced?
Yes. All IPs in the X2Proxy residential network come from real devices whose owners have voluntarily opted in to share bandwidth. No IP is added to the pool without the device owner's explicit consent.
🔌 Connection & Setup
My proxy connection is refused. What should I check?
- Verify the hostname:
pr.x2proxy.com - Verify the port:
2222 - Check your username format — it must include the pool prefix (e.g.,
pool_category;USERNAME) - Check your password for typos — copy directly from the dashboard
- Confirm your account has remaining traffic balance
What is the correct proxy string format?
The format is:
PROTOCOL://pool_TYPE;LOGIN;region_XX;session_ID;ttl_Xh:PASSWORD@pr.x2proxy.com:2222All parameters after the login are optional. Use the Dashboard → Proxy Generator to generate the correct string for your configuration.
How many concurrent connections can I make?
There is no hard limit on concurrent connections. The residential pool supports high concurrency — you can run dozens or hundreds of parallel requests simultaneously.
🌍 Geographic Targeting
How do I target a specific country?
Add region_XX to your username, where XX is the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code (e.g., US, DE, GB). Example: pool_category;USERNAME;region_US:PASSWORD@pr.x2proxy.com:2222.
What happens if no IP is available in my target country?
If no IP is available in the requested country at that moment, the proxy won't fall back to another country — the connection is simply dropped. Check country availability in the Dashboard → Proxy Generator.
Can I target multiple countries in one request?
No — each proxy connection targets a single location. To distribute across countries, use different proxy strings per request.
🔄 Sessions
What's the difference between rotating and sticky sessions?
- Rotating — a new IP is assigned on each request (default behavior). Do not include a
session_parameter. - Sticky — the same IP is held for the session duration. Add
session_IDandttl_Xhto your username.
See Rotating Sessions and Sticky Sessions.
How long can a sticky session last?
Up to 120 hours (5 days). Set the duration using the ttl_Xh parameter (e.g., ttl_24h, ttl_120h).
My sticky session IP changed unexpectedly. Why?
This can happen if:
- The TTL expired
- The residential device providing that IP went offline
- The session was reset from the dashboard
After a session reset or TTL expiry, a new IP is assigned to the same session ID.
Which pool should I use for sticky sessions?
The Stable Pool is strongly recommended for sticky sessions. Devices in this pool remain online consistently, reducing the risk of the IP going offline mid-session.
⚡ Performance
Proxies are responding slowly. What can I do?
- Try a different country or remove geographic targeting to use the global pool.
- Ensure your timeout settings are at least 30 seconds — residential connections may take longer than datacenter proxies due to routing through real devices.
- Try switching between HTTP and SOCKS5 protocols.
- Check the X2Proxy status page for any ongoing incidents.
I'm getting a lot of blocked or CAPTCHA responses.
- Add realistic browser headers (User-Agent, Accept-Language, Accept-Encoding).
- Add random delays between requests (1–3 seconds minimum).
- Reduce concurrency — too many simultaneous requests from one account can look unnatural.
- Use country targeting to match the expected user location more precisely.
My requests are timing out.
Increase your HTTP client's timeout to at least 30 seconds. Residential connections may take longer than datacenter proxies due to the nature of routing through real devices.
💳 Account & Billing
Can I create sub-accounts?
Yes. Sub-accounts allow you to split traffic across teams, projects, or clients with isolated credentials and quotas. You can create up to 5 sub-accounts by default — contact support to increase this limit. See Sub-Accounts.
My traffic reached 90 days. Did I lose it?
No. After 90 days, unused traffic is paused, not deleted. It is reactivated automatically with any new purchase. You do not need to buy a large package — even the minimum purchase will reactivate your paused balance.
